There are lot of products in the market that are advertising on the basis of the benefits they provide for different parts and body types. Some use synthetic materials and few use natural and herbal products. Benefits are immense if one prefers to use natural products that are free from chemicals and toxic materials. In this blog, we are going to see some of the naturally available products that not only provides flawless skin but also nourishes and hydrates for longevity
Natural care of skin is something that we have learnt from our ancestors and age-old subjects like Ayurveda, Naturopathy, western medicine and from empirical evidences. The natural products ingredients are very much around us but we don’t realize until somebody points at it. Naturally human beings look for evidences from the laboratories and certifications from agencies. While this is good, but please bear in mind we are all subjects of consumerism and everything that we see around us is not genuine! Let’s take at the look at these ingredients which lend lot of weightage to the authenticity of the final product.
Water
What? Yes, you are right. Water is the most essential component of any skin care product and something that we use at home to clean our skin! Not just drinking a lot of water but also using it to clean and apply for face wash, scrub, texturize, highlight etc.
It is believed that water has the ability to flush out the toxins from our skin and organs. Some of the common problems like like eczema, wrinkles, and psoriasis can be addressed with enough hydration. Water also helps in reducing acne, marks, and pimples. It helps flush out toxins from the body and will improve the complexion for healthy and glowing skin
Fruits
“We are what we eat!” I cant stress more on the fact that fruits and vegetables provide all necessary nutrients and vitamins required for our body to combat skin problems. Apples, strawberries, oranges, grapes, watermelon, peaches, pomegranates, bananas are some fruits that provide adequate vitamins and flush out the toxins. All these fruits provide vitamin C which is an antioxidant and that produces collagen to strengthens the capillaries in the skin
Oil
Show me a product which is not using Oil in the market for skin care. There is hardly a product which is discounting oil for skin care. Take any country in Asia and ask the citizens what is the only ingredient that you cant substitute for skin care and their answer is singular, Oil!
Oil can be applied directly on the skin or can be used through diffusion. Some of the properties like anti-inflammation, antibacterial, and soothing / relaxation provide immense benefit to our skin and variety of skin care concerns.
There are different types of skins namely oily, dry, sensitive etc and each oil has got different properties and should be used basis the skin type. The oil that is advertised in the market for skin is called essential oil. Essential oils are plant extracts made from flowers, leaves, and seeds. Some of the commonly used oils for skin are Coconut, Grapeseed, Almond, Lemongrass, Tea tree, Sandal wood, Peppermint, Rose, Jojoba, Lavender, Cinnamon and the list goes on. Try some of the oils that we recommend for a bright and glowy skin. Also check out the blog on different oils used and their benefits
Some of the ingredients that are mixed with oils are spices and herbs. For instance, chamomile is used in Beard oil for its anti-inflammatory property and helps in reducing itchiness and swelling. Similary, green tea leaves help thicken the epidermis and in turn expedite the healing of wounds, and avert damage to skin from sunburn. Cinnamon, turmeric, Cloves are other popular spices that are currently being mixed with essential oils for skin care
Dairy
Milk is considered to be one of the best cleansers and natural moisturizer for skin and you would have noticed this at your home. Our Nannies had been using it to apply it before the bath and any product that you pick in the market will have a sliver of milk in it. It contains lactic acid bacteria which lightens the complexion and provides and removes dead cells and exfoliation.
If you are allergic to dairy products and not in favour of using animal products you can look for plant-based substitutes such as soy or almond drain.
